One day, when looking up information on the Uncharted series, I came across an “Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunter Edition”. The going rate on on is what caught my eye, so I decided to do some digging to find out more about it, and why it’s so darn expensive. Turns out, this special collector’s edition of the game was not sold in stores at all, which explains the rarity. Only two hundred of them were made, and they were only given away via the Playstation Home blog, the game’s multiplayer demo and a few “unnamed places”. The Fortune Hunter edition contains the game, a replica of the Phurba Dagger artifact and stand, a BradyGames strategy guide, an art book, the official soundtrack, and a collector’s case autographed by Naughty Dog (via Wikipedia).
While we haven’t had one walk into the store or be lucky enough to find one at Goodwill, it’s definitely a cool piece of gaming history and would love to see one in person. For now, you can check out the pictures below or watch the unboxing video.
